BLANKET & PILLOW for 18” DOLLS
(such as American Girl, etc.) in
Waffle Stitch
- G size hook is used throughout, however, an H hook is used for the starting chain.
- Bernat Baby Sport yarn – 3 ply (1 skein is enough for blanket & pillow)
- 100% Polyester fiberfill
With H hook, chain 60. Change to G hook.
Row 1: DC in 3rd chain from hook and in
each chain across. Turn. (piece will measure about 14”)
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first st). DC in next st, *FPDC around next st, DC in next 2 sts. * Repeat * to * till the end. FPDC around ch 3. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first st). *DC in next st, FPDC around next 2 sts*. Repeat * to * to the end. DC in ch 3.
Turn.
Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as first st). DC in next st, *FPDC around next st, DC in
next 2 sts*. Repeat * to * till the
end. FPDC around ch3.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 till blanket is big
enough for the doll (about 16” long).
End with a Row 4 to complete the pattern. Don’t fasten off yet!
Border: ROW 1:
Ch 2, HDC down the side putting one HDC in the end of each row. (It will look like it is spaced out too far,
but it really isn’t). At each corner put
3 HDC. Along the bottom (beginning ch)
put one HDC in each st (this will look like it is too many – don’t
worry!). 3 HDC in the corner and HDC in
the end of each row up the side. 3 HDC
in the corner, one HDC in each st across the top. 2 HDC in the end stitch.
Picot Stitch for ROW 2:
First Side: Ch 1, sc in first st. CH 3, slip stitch in
bottom ch, sc in next 2 stitches, *ch 3, slip stitch in bottom ch, sc in next 2
stitches* down the side. At the corner,
ch 3, slip stitch in bottom ch, sc in same st, sc in next st.
Along the bottom, ch 3, slip stitch
in bottom ch, dec across next 2 sts, sc in next st (this will tighten up the
row along the bottom). *Ch 3, slip
stitch in bottom ch, dec across next 2 sts, sc in next st*. Repeat * to * across bottom. At the corner, ch 3, slip stitch in bottom ch,
sc in same st, sc in next st.
Second Side: Ch 3, slip stitch in bottom ch, sc in next 2
stitches, *ch 3, slip stitch in bottom ch, sc in next 2 stitches* up the
side. At the corner, ch 3, slip stitch
in bottom ch, sc in same st, sc in next st.
Across the top, ch 3, slip stitch in
bottom ch, dec across next 2 stitches, sc in next st. (decrease made to tighten
the row) *Ch 3, slip stitch in bottom st, dec across next 2 stitches, sc in
next st*. Repeat * to * across top. Slip stitch to beginning stitch. Weave
in the ends.
Blanket is finished!
Pillow Instructions
G hook (use H hook for starting
chain)
Make 2
With
H hook, chain 35 (about 7” wide). Change
to G hook.
Row 1: SC in 2nd chain from hook and in
each ch across. Turn.
Row 2: CH1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
Continue each row until pieces
measures 5”. Do not fasten off yet. Piece may curl but don’t worry – it will all
work out!
CH 1, sc in the end of each row down
the side. 3 sc in the corner. SC in each st of beginning chain, 3 sc in the
corner. Sc in the end of each row along
the side. 3 sc in the corner, sc in each
st across top. 2 sc in the last st –
slip stitch to beginning st.
Make a 2nd piece the same as the first.
Make a 2nd piece the same as the first.
Put wrong sides together and sc the
pieces together.
SC
around all (put 3 sc in each corner.
Stop about 2” from starting point.
Stuff
with the polyester fiberfill (or whatever you choose to use).
When finished stuffing, sc to the end
and slip stitch to beginning st. Weave
in the ends.
Finished!
